Top 5 Bands on my Gym Playlist.

The one thing that I love about going to the gym by myself is that I get to put on some headphones and get on with my workout. Now there are different types of music that you can listen to (obviously) and for me it's always been a more leaning towards quite heavy and aggressive music. This is what gets me motivated. Maybe listening to Ariana Grande get's you hyped. I've had to bench to 7 Rings, admittedly it wasn't my proudest moments and the gym were playing it. But hey, I hit a new PB.

Below are the Top 5 Bands on my Gym Playlist - in no particular order.

5 - FOZZY

I'll admit that I'm a fan of wrestling. That doesn't have anything to do with me enjoying a little bit of FOZZY. If you didn't know the singer is "The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla" Chris Jericho himself. As soon as I first heard the album "Judas" I fell in love with it. Especially the title track. Painless is also a good song to sweat-to. FOZZY has always been a bit more of a cardio-band to me.

Songs to Check out: Judas, Painless, Burn Me Out.

4 - Bullet for my Valentine

Well this list was harder to write than I thought. Bullet for my Valentine were one of the first metal bands that I listen to - so maybe nostalgia plays a part in this pick.

But as far as listening to them when I workout it's probably more so that the Scream. Aim. Fire album was incredibly powerful. So was Gravity (their newest album) Bullet for my Valentine are towards the more Metal side of my music taste. I do like the screams and growls that Matt Tuck can manage.

The build up in Waking the Demon is something that really helps me push myself through the workout.

Songs to Check out: Waking the Demon, Scream Aim Fire, Gravity.

3 - Disturbed

*Confession Time* It was a tight pick between Disturbed and Bullet for my Valentine. It was difficult so for the sake of not upsetting anyone. They're both 3rd and both 4th.

It's mostly from their album "Indestructible" It's a very deep album with a lot of great songs on it. I have listened to their other songs but I always seem to be falling back in love with this album when the songs appear on my playlist. The album has always been able to get me out of a motivational slump. If you need to beef up your playlist then I do recommend this album.

2 - Metallica

Metallica hold a strange place in my heart. Death Magnetic was the first CD I ever purchased with my pocket money. I remember running bright-eyed and bushy tailed into HMV to buy the album. My mum watching over me like a proud sparrow (I couldn't think of an analogy)

If you talk to any metal head at a gym, "What do you have on your playlist?" They will (more times than not) say they have Metallica. There is nothing wrong with that. They're an amazing band - I don't listen to them too much because of my number one spot. But when I do it's always an adrenaline pumping experience.

Songs to Check out: Motorbreath, Fuel and Whiplash.

Honourable Mentions: Motionless in White, Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth.

1 - Five Finger Death Punch.

The most part of my workouts focuses on moderately-heavy weightlifting. The right mindset can make all the difference. I sincerely believe that when I'm listening to the right song I get a bit stronger. As ridiculous as that sounds if it makes me work harder then that's still good.

Five Finger Death Punch. I've been listening to them for years. Since the Way of the Fist in 2007 (12 years as of writing) I originally started as a little chubby 12 year old listening to apparently unexpected music. The rough tones of Ivan Moody's vocals is enough to switch my mindset from a mild daydream to laser focused on my workout.

When I hit my 300lb deadlift Pb (small victories) it was during the main chorus of Jekyll and Hyde, that still stands as one of my favourite lifting songs.

Songs to Check out: Jekyll and Hyde, Under and Over it, Meet the Monster.

Enjoy and Have Fun
